Gout Pain Home Remedies & Diet
1. Water
Drinking lots of water is the simplest home remedies and diet option for getting rid of gout. Drinking water regularly through the day is not only effective remedy for gout but also it has several other health benefits. For instance, water helps in cleansing the uric acid and other toxic substances from the body effectively. It also helps in easy digest of the food. Research has proved that people who drink water regularly and keep their body hydrated sufficiently are at far lesser risk in suffering from kidney stones. The medical and health experts suggest that every person must drink about 8 to 10 glasses of water every day to maintain a healthy body. The best thing about drinking water is that it is safe and there is no risk of unwanted and complicated side effects.
2. Consume cherries or cherry juice
Consuming cherries in all forms be it – eating the raw fruit or drinking cherry juice is one of the best home remedies for treating gout. If you are suffering from gout problems, including cherries in your daily diet can go a long way in dealing with the gout pain as well as preventing the gout attacks. People who are already suffering from gout pain must consume cherries to get quick relief from the excruciating pain. Although consuming cherries does not cause any complicated side effect, eating too much of cherries at once may sometimes lead to stomach problems such as diarrhea or constipation. Therefore, make sure that you don’t ingest too much of cherries in one go.
3. Charcoal Poultice
Charcoal Poultice is known for its ability to reduce inflammation. This is another effect home remedy; the solution is prepared by mixing 3-7 table spoon grounded flaxseed with half a cup of activated charcoal powder. When you mix the elements add some warm water to it and make it into a paste. Apply the paste on the joint or on the area where you have gouts and cover with plastic or a cloth dressing. Make sure that you change the dressing after every 4 hours. While you apply the Charcoal Poultice make sure that you don’t touch any cloth or other things because the mixture would stain every fabric it touches.
4. Coffee
This is another effective home remedy for treating gout. Research conducted by medical experts at Harvard University discovered that people who include coffee in their regular diet have lesser risk of suffering from gout problems. The risk of gout is 40% lesser among people who drink about 3 to 4 cups of coffee in day than people who do not drink coffee at all. However, you must know that if you are already suffering from gout problems drinking coffee regularly through the day won’t help you get rid of it; it only helps in prevent gout. Excessive coffee drinking would lead to other health complications.
5. Take sufficient Rest
Resting is the best home remedy for gout problems; when you are suffering from gout problems it is important that you take sufficient rest to speed up the gout healing process. Make sure that you keep the joint affected by gout in an elevated position so that you don’t further aggravate the inflammation. Additionally, it is important that you keep the gout affected joint warm or cool, however you feel comfortable and reduce the tension or stress in your joints.
