Be Careful of Eyeball Licking

There is a new trend in Japan, called oculolinctus which means licking other people’s eye ball with tongues. The photos and videos of eyeball licking are everywhere on the Internet. It was firstly found in a music video of the Japanese band Born which has a really slow-motion scene of eyeball licking. Now the pictures and videos of the bizarre behavior are sweeping across the internet.

However, the consequences may not be that pleasant. Dr. Robert Cykiert once pointed out that the eye can get infected from the bacteria in your mouth or tongue. “When you get licked on the eye, you’re transferring dangerous bacteria to the eye,” said Cykiert. “It’s a very dangerous trend, to say the least.” Our eyes are usually bacteria-free and once they are infected, there is a great chance that you may contract Conjunctivitis. And people may even scratch their eyeballs. As for Japan, some people also noted the problem. A Japanese teacher noticed up to ten students wearing eye patches and he believed that they were hiding eye ailments.

There are many other ways to show your affection to your partners like hand holding and kissing. In this case, experts suggest that we should not try this behavior as much as possible.
